shooting range

A Lakenorman Shooting range is a facility where people use firearms to practice, qualify, and compete. It is a great place for people to become more familiar with firearms and improve their shooting skills. It is also a great place for people to learn more about gun safety and to practice for competitions. There are many different types of shooting ranges, and there are even some that are specifically for competitions!

PLACES WHERE TRAINING IMPROVES EVERY DAY

The Great Swamp Shooting Range is located in South Kingstown, RI. It recently completed an upgrade project that improved its shooting opportunities and safety measures. It is the only public shooting range in Rhode Island and was funded through federal Pittman-Robertson Wildlife Restoration Act funds and hunting license receipts. The shooting range is available to all Rhode Islanders and is free to use.

Shooting range lighting should be even and consistent in intensity and should be glare-free. The lighting should also be bright enough to prevent pupil dilation, which lowers visual acuity. Additionally, the lighting should include exit lights and emergency lights. Bullet trap lighting is another highly visible safety practice. A shooting range must have at least 30 foot-candles of light.

Proper ventilation is another important component. Proper ventilation minimizes the amount of combustion products and lead particles emitted during shooting. A ventilation system will consist of a supply air system and an exhaust air system. The supply air will be routed through a perforated wall plenum or radial air diffusers mounted at ceiling height. The airflow along the firing line should not exceed 0.25 m/s. Some firing ranges will have multiple exhaust points downrange.
